It start with a very simple start which is usually how all the Twilight Zone episodes start, with the divorce and family issues of who should raise them, and who is raising them the best. I like how it starts with regular issues, and then weirdness starts. Then they find a magazine, that says that a robot would be the best thing to watch your kids, and family, better than even a regular old mother. They go to investigate, and find everything they were looking for. The way to find the perfect nanny/granny. The thing they created shows up at their house and proves that she is a robot. The robot blends right in with the family. Ann is the only one who still looks at the robot as a machine. The robot believes that she can love, and that everyone needs her. When Ann is almost about to be run over, the robot saves her, and then Ann finally starts to love the robot. I don't think that there will ever be a robot that can actually love, but who knows. This episode was very non-violent, which is a good relief from the stuff we've been watching.

Superconductivity is a phenomina of zero. Zero electrical resistance, and the expulsion of magnetic fields. There are no collisions inside a superconductor. NO FRICTION. Locks the fluxons in place, which in turn locks itself in place, this is called quantum locking. If put on magnetic circle you can rotate it, so it will stay locked. Can stay suspended in midair. Not levitation, but Quantum locking. Can make MRI machines and charge huge power plants with big amount of superconducting wire. Could hold many times it's weight. For example a tiny car you could hold in your hand. One thing I noticed was that in order for it to stay levitated it had to be frozen, and as soon as it warmed up it would stop the quantum locking, and it would drop. So even though this cool thing, that could help with a lot of things works, it only works with at certain times. In my opinion we need to research this more, and figure out ways to use it without freezing. I really like how this episode has the monster be a little kid, because nobody would ever expect it, and it shows that if kids were in charge it would be a very scary world. The little kid can get away with everything, but if anyone ever tries to stop him he can just kill them or make them go away. This reminds me of a Star Trek episode, where this one teenage boy named Charlie X has powers too, and because he can't control his emotions he kills people, and makes people do whatever he wants them to do. In It's a Good Life all the adults scared about what they're doing, all the time because the little kid could just wish them into the corn field. It's cool how they have to always watch what they're thinking, because what if you were put in that situation, would you be able to focus on only good thoughts? When thinking about this, I think I would be wished into the corn field because my mind wanders a lot. So I would not please the little kid. Suspended Animation: process by which animals die then reanimate and live again. Suspended animation has brought deer and mice back to life, a 13 year old, and a 65 year old. All were frozen when found, and when exposed to heat their heart started beating again. Scientist believe that an organism is not dead until they are warm. Hydrogen Sulfide is toxic to humans, but if exposed to it, they die, they can be brought into open air and can come back to life. Giving animals sulfide, letting them die, then exposing them to open air can bring them back to life. Exposure to Hydrogen Sulfide can lower your chances of heart attacks, and other severe diseases to humans. Scientists have started human experiments with Hydrogen Sulfide. Suspended animation can save thousands of babies a year. It's amazing how humans can take a deadly poison and use it to help people in need. To Serve men was a story about a man who has to decipher a book brought by "peaceful" aliens. These aliens are known as Kanimits, which sound like cannibals referring to the end of the episode where it turns out they want to eat humans. All through the story the aliens trick all the humans into thinking of them as good, and wanting to better man. They end famine and hunger, and really do seem good. While trying to figure out what the book means, they see that the title is named to serve men, and welcome the aliens as friends. At the end of the episode though it turns out the book was a cook book, and the whole time they were planning to eat us. I really liked this episode, it had the watchers trust the aliens only to be betrayed by them in the end. While watching it also keeps you guessing to what is the ulterior motive, and whether we should trust the aliens or not. Puts a somewhat normal woman into a strange situation. When the woman was cutting with her knife she realized it was dull and took out a sharp one instead, which foreshadows a later event where the "alien" stabs her with it. This episode really made you wonder what was going to happen with the woman, and if the alien was good or bad. In a twist of events at the end though you realize this whole time that the woman was the alien and the little being was a human. I like how it gets you to root for the alien who is really just trying to murder your own species. This episode was fun to watch and really got me thinking about creative ideas. I hope that the other videos in this class will be as enjoyable. Side Note: This episode had really dark themes in it. |
