Finally, this is the last reflective blog post I'll ever make for this year. This trimester was one of the best of my life, I loved learning all about sci fi, and time travel. Being in this class also allowed me to make some friends that I would not have made without this class. This has been my favorite class ever. All of our Artifacts are done and put in the prezi, and I've finished my one pager, and my dear reader letter. Because I've gotten all of these done, I can use the rest of my time to relax and get ready for presenting on Monday. I really hope I do good, and that we as a team get a good grade. I think we do deserve a good grade because we've worked so hard on everything. I wish I could of read more books about sci fi though... If you would like to learn about some of the books I read click here: Sound of thunder and here: Slaughter House V

I have turned in my creative writing, and I've almost finished all of my artifacts. I have not gotten very far in my book, but I think I will take it home and finish it there. I know I've said this a million times, but I'm really going to miss this class. I hope that it will be available next year, because I will gladly take it again. Overall this has been a great trimester, and I've made a lot of progress through all of it... I think if I took another course with Sci fi then I would choose life on other planets. My understanding of Sci Fi as a whole is really great, and I'm thankful for all the things I learned this year. If you want to learn more about life on other planets: Book choices Almost all of our Artifacts are complete, we are almost done with our Science Fiction class. I find this fact really sad. This has been the best class I've ever taken, and I wish it was an all year class. I've learned so much more about all the different things in Sci Fi, and when this class is over I will make sure to learn even more! This week we read and watched a lot of different things about time travel. Like how there are rules, and if you do not follow the rules, you will upset the whole time balance. Looking at all the different kinds of time travel, I realized there really is no one kind, and that wherever you look there will always be different perceptions of it. This was a really cool thing that I learned, and I can't wait to learn even more things! Overall really productive week, in work and learning. I also finished my story, it's really cool, and it even has a robot dog. I wish you could read it... If you want to know more about the rules of time travel then click here: Rules I Got a lot done this week. Mainly focusing on my creative writing, and my multi genre research project. We have watched some more things having to do with time travel, and I'm getting a really good idea about what it's all about. I'm really glad I chose this topic, and I wish I had even more time to delve deeper into it. Our group has really come a long way, and I'm certain all of our participation, and work ethic will score us a good grade in this class. With my creative writing I have started writing my second chapter, and I think it is really good so far. Overall this was a good week, and I'm sure the coming weeks will be getting more frantic as we get closer to the end of the marking period, but I'm sure I am prepared. If you also want to write about Sci Fi: Writing Topics This week we chose our new subjects, mine being Time Travel. I Thought this week was really productive because we chose our new SSR books, we wrote a sci fi blog post, we started writing some more creative writings, and we decided what we would be doing with our artifacts. What I learned about this week is that when watching or reading sci fi, sometimes you can relate it to other sci fi things that you have seen. This was really cool when it happened with the Twilight Episode and Star Trek. It made me feel like I'm really starting to know more about Sci Fi and different genres in it. Also I think my participation in this week was one hundred percent because I got everything that I needed done done, and I understood everything we were working on. The book I chose for my SSR novel is a book by David Brin called Startide Rising. So far this book has been really interesting to me. I really like when books have different aliens and governments, and the concept of the whole uplifting is a really neat idea. This week was really great, it was super productive and fun. I Can't wait to start reading some Time Travel stuff and dig into Sci Fi even more. If you want to know more about David Brin and his book click here: David Brin We did our presentations today, and guess what?? Our team scored 100%!! This shows how well we know about Sci Fi through history. It shows that we were focused, stayed on topic, and were really passionate about what we were learning about. I kind of scared going into the second marking period, I'm hoping it will be as fun as this one was. I also turned in my creative writing today, and I finished my short stories book. Out of all the short stories there were only a few that I really liked, like They go bump, and there was one where this alien lived inside you and ate off of your nutrients in your stomach. When reading, I really stayed focus on my reading, and was never distracted with other things. This was a really good week for me. If you want to know more about the book of short stories I read click here: Short stories This Week we have really been trying to finish our book reading, and taking more notes. Currently we are reading Ender's Game. In our notes we have been comparing and contrasting the Time Traveller and Ender's Game, we have noticed how these two books are very different kinds of Sci Fi and how the Sci Fi has changed through history. We have also been finishing up our stories in writing, and I have been learning how important it is to stay focused while writing, otherwise it will just all sound wrong when reading it. I can't wait until my story is done, I think it's going to be really good. The marking period is almost over, and everyone is finishing up their stuff before they start their projects. I believe we may be a little behind, but I will try hard to catch up to where we should be. If you would like to know a little bit about Ender's Game here's a link to a description: Wikipedia This week our teacher let us go on our own, and explore our sections without his direction. Our group chose the book we were going to be reading first, The Time Machine. Then as group leader I created a google docs and shared with everyone so we could all keep our notes in the same place. Mostly this week we read and wrote notes, read and wrote notes. One other thing we did though was watch a twilight episode, which I was not able to watch due to a golf tournament. I believe that everybody has almost gotten into the swing of things with how the class works, and the next few weeks will go by really fast. Since our section of science fiction is Sci Fi through history, we choose the time machine as our first book to read. So far this book has been really interesting, and I can't wait to compare the Sci Fi in it to some of the other books we will be reading. If you may be interested in The Time Machine here's a link to reading it: The Time Machine This week we did a number of things, mainly around getting all of our projects settled out and talked about. We also posted our first SciFi/Sci fact blog post. Two of the main things we did though was learn about the definition of Sci Fi and what makes it what it is, and the other main thing was choose what area of science fiction we wanted to be in this Trimester. The definition of Sci Fi will help us understand it, and know the difference between that and other genres. To better understand it we learned about the 3 (+1) elements of Sci Fi. I understood the elements and that Sci Fi is not easy to define with just one definition very well, so I would rate my understanding a 5/5. There are so many areas of Science Fiction to go over in a tri, so we all picked an area that most interested us. I picked Sci Fi through time. Because we all picked a different ones, the people who picked the same thing were put in a group, so they could work together on a joint idea. This week sure was busy, I hope that it settles down a little more, the more experienced we are with the procedures. I'm guessing next week we will get through things a lot quicker, but we will see. If you would also like to learn about the definition of Sci Fi go here: Prezi This week we learned how to make a weebly webpage. With a weebly webpage people can create a site that helps with school, or helps their business. To understand weebly better, we created a site of our own, and added tabs and pages. Since I could not build a website until I had my passwords for the computer, I was a little behind. Due to how behind I was, I went home and worked on it, so I believe my participation in this class activity was very high. We also selected our SSR books. Our SSR time will help us comprehend words better, and help us become better readers. I made sure to read the whole fifteen minutes ( which isn't that hard since I love reading) so my participation in this activity was high too. Overall this was a good starter week, and I can't wait to see what is to come in the upcoming weeks!
